Instructors


Chief Instructor – Rose Shuff (Sandan): Both an instructor for Lafayette Karate Club and the UL Karate Club, Rose started training Shotokan karate in 1981. She has over 30 years of experience teaching karate, is a former U.S. National Team member, and competed in the 5th JKA Shotocup held in Philadelphia. Rose has competed in regional, national, and international level tournaments and won National Collegiate Champion in both kata and kumite in her category in 1993.

Lane Nevils (Godan): Lane has over 30 years experience teaching karate and is a six time U.S. National Team member, 1997 U.S. National Kumite Champion, 2007 U.S. National Kata Champion, Pan-American Championship bronze medalist in kumite, and assistant U.S. team coach. He has trained and competed throughout the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Lane is a student of Sensei T. Mikami, 9th Degree Black Belt and former All Japan Kumite and Kata Champion. He is a JKA certified instructor, examiner, and judge.

Holly Damico (Yondan): Holly is an instructor for both the Lafayette Karate Club and the UL Lafayette Karate Club. She has competed in regional, national, and international level tournaments. Holly was the All South women's kumite champion in 2007 and 2008 and the collegiate kumite champion in 2011, as well as an alternate on the 2014 USA team for the World Shoto Cup which was held in Japan.

Brandin Jefferson (Sandan): Brandin is the primary instructor for the the kids' class, an alternate instructor for the regular class, and an alternate instructor/coach for the UL Lafayette Karate Club. He has competed in regional and national tournaments and has placed in the top 3 consistently in the last several years. He was the Men's heavyweight kumite champion at the 2018 All South Tournament.

Meaghan Trahan (Shodan): Meaghan is an alternate instructor/coach for the UL Lafayette Karate Club and an alternate instructor for the Lafayette Karate Club.

Eric Trahan (Shodan): Eric is a an alternate instructor/coach for the UL Lafayette Karate Club and an alternate instructor for the Lafayette Karate Club. He also manages and maintains the website and social media pages.
